PTA, Book Sale, Sports Relief, Attendance, Mothers Day Lunch

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our wonderful PTA had their Annual General Meeting on Tuesday. It was good to be reminded of all the great events the PTA have run for the children this year and all the money that has been raised for the children. The PTA are now gathering quotations in regard to repairing our swimming pool and repairing and extending our jungle gym equipment. I am very grateful for all that the PTA do and the support they receive from parents. Having been at the AGM I can tell you that they have plans for many more great events over the coming twelve months. Their next meeting is during the afternoon of Tuesday 17th April and their next two events are a children’s Easter Egg Hunt after school on Thursday 29th March and the pamper evening on 27th April.

Our year 6 children ran our pre loved book sale last Thursday and Friday. There was a great buzz around the sale and all the books on offer. Many, many children left the sale with new books to read and to cherish. It’s good that the total amount of money raised was £234.61. All the money raised will be used to purchase new reading books in school. These new reading books have been specially selected because they fit perfectly with the way we are developing a love of reading with children and their decoding and comprehension skills.
With our daily mile challenge for Sports Relief, next week, we suggest that children bring in trainers to wear as they will be running every day on our field and hard surfaces.
We are delighted that our attendance has been so good this week. Almost all classes are ‘green’ with quite a few near to 100%. Thank you to all our parents that are supporting children having good attendance. Good attendance makes a real difference to children’s learning.

It has been lovely to have so many mothers, aunts, grandmothers etc joining us for lunches this week. The children have clearly loved having their family members in school. My thanks to all our office. Mid Day Assistants and kitchen teams that have facilitated this; especially our kitchen team who have had one person less in their team all week and have two colleagues ‘stepping-up’. A great effort by all.
